Day 175 – A Year in the Bible – Psalms 101 – 105
______
PSALM 101 – I WILL SET NO WICKED THING BEFORE MINE EYES
I Hate the Work of Them that Turn Aside
I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; It shall not cleave to me. – Psalm 101:3
______
PSALM 102 – THOU ART THE SAME AND THY YEARS SHALL HAVE NO END
Of Old Hast Thou Laid the Foundation of the Earth
Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: And the heavens are the work of thy hands. They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: Yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; As a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed: But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end. The children of thy servants shall continue, And their seed shall be established before thee. – Psalm 102:25-28
The children of thy servants (Melissa) shall continue and their seed (Melissa’s seed) shall be established before Thee.
______
PSALM 103 – BLESS THE LORD, O MY SOUL
Forget Not All His Benefits
Bless the LORD, O my soul: And all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; Who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; Who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; So that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s. – Psalm 103:1-5
God forgives me, healeth me, redeemeth me, crowneth me (with lovingkindness and tender mercies), satisfieth my mouth (with good things). Why? So that my youth is renewed like the eagle’s youth.
He Remembereth that We are Dust
Like as a father pitieth his children, So the LORD pitieth them that fear him. For he knoweth our frame; He remembereth that we are dust. As for man, his days are as grass: As a flower of the field, so he flourisheth. For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; And the place thereof shall know it no more. But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, And his righteousness unto children’s children; To such as keep his covenant, And to those that remember his commandments to do them. – Psalm 103:13-18
The mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him (upon Melissa that fears Him) and His righteousness unto children’s children (Melissa’s children and their children) as we keep His covenant and remember and do His commandments.
______
PSALM 104 – THOU ART CLOTHED WITH HONOUR AND MAJESTY
Thou Art Clothed with Honour and Majesty
Bless the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, thou art very great; Thou art clothed with honour and majesty: Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment: Who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain: Who layeth the beams of his chambers in the waters: Who maketh the clouds his chariot: Who walketh upon the wings of the wind: Who maketh his angels spirits; His ministers a flaming fire: Who laid the foundations of the earth, That it should not be removed for ever. – Psalm 104:1-5
The Glory of the LORD Shall Endure Forever
The glory of the LORD shall endure for ever: The LORD shall rejoice in his works. He looketh on the earth, and it trembleth: He toucheth the hills, and they smoke. I will sing unto the LORD as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being. My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the LORD. – Psalm 104:31-34
______
PSALM 105 – HE BROUGHT FORTH HIS PEOPLE WITH JOY AND GLADNESS
Talk Ye of All His Wondrous Works
O give thanks unto the LORD; call upon his name: Make known his deeds among the people. Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him: Talk ye of all his wondrous works. Glory ye in his holy name: Let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD. – Psalm 105:1-3
Until the Time His Word Came: The Word of the LORD Tried Him
Moreover he called for a famine upon the land: He brake the whole staff of bread. He sent a man before them, Even Joseph, who was sold for a servant: Whose feet they hurt with fetters: He was laid in iron: Until the time that his word came: The word of the LORD tried him. The king sent and loosed him; Even the ruler of the people, and let him go free. – Psalm 105:16-20
There was Not One Feeble Person Among Their Tribes
He brought them forth also with silver and gold: And there was not one feeble person among their tribes. – Psalm 105:37
He Brought Forth His People with Joy
And he brought forth his people with joy, And his chosen with gladness: And gave them the lands of the heathen: And they inherited the labour of the people; That they might observe his statutes, And keep his laws. Praise ye the LORD. – Psalm 105:43-45
He brought forth His people (Melissa) with joy, and His chosen (Melissa) with gladness. And they (Melissa) inherited the labour of the people. Why? That they (Melissa) might observe His statutes and keep His laws.
