Let the Whole Earth Be Filled with His Glory

Psalm 72:18-19

Day 169 – A Year in the Bible – Psalm 71-75

______

PSALM 71 – IN THEE, O LORD, DO I PUT MY TRUST

Let Me Never Be Put to Confusion
In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust: Let me never be put to confusion. Deliver me in thy righteousness, and cause me to escape: Incline thine ear unto me, and save me. Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: Thou hast given commandment to save me; For thou art my rock and my fortress. – Psalm‬ ‭71:1-3‬

PSALM 72 – BLESSED BE HIS GLORIOUS NAME FOR EVER

He Only Doeth Wondrous Things
Blessed be the LORD God, the God of Israel, who only doeth wondrous things. And blessed be his glorious name for ever: and let the whole earth be filled with his glory; Amen, and Amen. – Psalm 72:18-19

The prayers of David the son of Jesse are ended. – Psalm 72:20

When I read this last verse, I thought how David seems to be declaring the place he began as David, the son of Jesse, and the place where he will end, as David, the son of Jesse. All of the things in his life are because of and for the glory of God. It was God who took a young boy, set him up to be king, and used him for His purposes and His glory. What more could David say of his life than he said in these verses?

What more can I say of my life. Where God brought me from, where He has brought me to, where He will take me in the future? May my prayer and my heart song, today and every day, be as David’s and yet wholly my own.

Blessed be the Lord God, the God of Israel, who only doeth wondrous things. And blessed be His glorious Name forever: and let the whole earth be filled with His glory. Amen, and Amen!

PSALM 73 – WHOM HAVE I IN HEAVEN BUT THEE?

His Counsel Guides Me
Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand. Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee. My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.
 – Psalm 73:23-26

That I May Declare All Thy Works
But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works.
 – Psalm 73:28

PSALM 74 – GOD IS MY KING OF OLD

Psalm 74:12

Something to Meditate On
For God is my King of old, working salvation in the midst of the earth.
 – Psalm 74:12

In Psalm 74, the Psalmist is crying out and praying to God, recalling all the things he has done in the past and detailing each time God comes to rescue the children of Israel.

It tells me the importance of detailing every victory, every answered prayer, every time God has saved, healed, and delivered me…detail by detail.

PSALM 75 – GOD IS THE JUDGE

Promotion and Demotion Comes From God
For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another. – Psalm 75:6
