The Sacrifices of God are a Broken Spirit

Psalm 51:16-17

Song of Solomon 5:1–8:14; 2 Corinthians 9:1-15; Psalm 51:1-19; Proverbs 22:24-25

For I Acknowledge My Transgressions
Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: According unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, And cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions: And my sin is ever before me. –
Psalm 51:1-3

Against Thee Only Have I Sinned
Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: That thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest. Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; And in sin did my mother conceive me. –
Psalm 51:4-5

Thou Desireth Truth in the Inward Parts

Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: And in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom. Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Make me to hear joy and gladness; That the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice. Hide thy face from my sins, And blot out all mine iniquities.
 – Psalm 51:6-9

Create in Me a Clean Heart, O God

Create in me a clean heart, O God; And renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence; And take not thy holy spirit from me
. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; And uphold me with thy free spirit. Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; And sinners shall be converted unto thee. – Psalm 51:10-13

Deliver Me from Bloodguiltiness

Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: And my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness. O Lord, open thou my lips; And my mouth shall shew forth thy praise. –
Psalm 51:14-15

The Sacrifices of God are a Broken Spirit

For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: Thou delightest not in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: A broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. – Psalm 51:16-17

Then Shalt Thou Be Pleased
 with the Sacrifices of Righteousness
Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: Build thou the walls of Jerusalem. Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: Then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar. –
Psalm 51:18-19

______

As He Purposeth in His Heart, So Let Him Give
But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: (As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: His righteousness remaineth for ever. Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;) being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God
. – 2 Corinthians 9:6-11

______

Many Waters Cannot Quench Love
Set me as a seal upon thine heart, As a seal upon thine arm: For love is strong as death; Jealousy is cruel as the grave: The coals thereof are coals of fire, Which hath a most vehement flame. Many waters cannot quench love, Neither can the floods drown it: If a man would give all the substance of his house for love, It would utterly be contemned.
 – Song of Solomon 8:6-7

______

Make No Friendship with an Angry Man
Make no friendship with an angry man; And with a furious man thou shalt not go: Lest thou learn his ways, And get a snare to thy soul
. – Proverbs 22:24-25

The Conclusion of the Whole Matter

Ecclesiastes 10:1–12:14; 2 Corinthians 8:1-15; Psalm 49:1-20; Proverbs 22:20-21

The Conclusion of the Whole Matter
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil
. – Ecclesiastes 12:13-14

______

Abundance of Their Joy and Their Deep Poverty Abounded
Moreover, brethren, we do you to wit of the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia; how that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality. For to their power, I bear record, yea, and beyond their power they were willing of themselves; praying us with much intreaty that we would receive the gift, and take upon us the fellowship of the ministering to the saints. And this they did, not as we hoped, but first gave their own selves to the Lord, and unto us by the will of God
. – 2 Corinthians 8:1-5

See That You Abound in Grace Also
Insomuch that we desired Titus, that as he had begun, so he would also finish in you the same grace also. Therefore, as ye abound in every thing, in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and in all diligence, and in your love to us, see that ye abound in this grace also
. – 2 Corinthians 8:6-7

Yet for Your Sakes He Became Poor
I speak not by commandment, but by occasion of the forwardness of others, and to prove the sincerity of your love. For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich
. – 2 Corinthians 8:8-9

If There Be First a Willing Mind
And herein I give my advice: for this is expedient for you, who have begun before, not only to do, but also to be forward a year ago. Now therefore perform the doing of it; that as there was a readiness to will, so there may be a performance also out of that which ye have. For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not
. – 2 Corinthians 8:10-12

Not That Other Men Be Eased and Ye Be Burdened
For I mean not that other men be eased, and ye burdened: but by an equality, that now at this time your abundance may be a supply for their want, that their abundance also may be a supply for your want: that there may be equality: as it is written, He that had gathered much had nothing over; and he that had gathered little had no lack
. – 2 Corinthians 8:13-15

______

Wise Men Die, Likewise the Fool
For he seeth that wise men die, Likewise the fool and the brutish person perish, and leave their wealth to others. Their inward thought is, that their houses shall continue for ever, And their dwelling places to all generations; They call their lands after their own names. Nevertheless man being in honour abideth not: He is like the beasts that perish.
 – Psalm 49:10-12

Certainty of the Words of Truth
Have not I written to thee excellent things In counsels and knowledge, That I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth; That thou mightest answer the words of truth to them that send unto thee?
– Proverbs 22:20-21

O Send Out Thy Light and Thy Truth

Job 31:1–33:33; 2 Corinthians 3:1-18; Psalm 43:1-5; Proverbs 22:8-9

O Send Out Thy Light and Thy Truth
O send out thy light and thy truth: Let them lead me; Let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles. Then will I go unto the altar of God, unto God my exceeding joy: Yea, upon the harp will I praise thee, O God my God. – Psalm 43:3-4

______

A Covenant with Mine Eyes
I made a covenant with mine eyes; Why then should I think upon a maid? For what portion of God is there from above? And what inheritance of the Almighty from on high? Is not destruction to the wicked? And a strange punishment to the workers of iniquity? Doth not he see my ways, And count all my steps? – Job 31:1-4

Here, Job speaks of a covenant he made with his eyes. He references it toward looking upon and lusting after a woman, but indeed we can lust for many things of this world. Wealth, position, titles, ease. We look upon what others have, and we think if only we had that. We compare, and the thought develops that it would make us or our lives better. That is lust, and it bears the seeds of jealousy.

Unchecked jealousy brings along with it strife. And as we continue to feed and water jealousy and strife, the Bible says there is confusion and every evil work.

We need to make a covenant with our eyes—a covenant not to allow our eyes to compare and covet. We need to cut jealousy off before it takes root (confess), and if it has taken root, we need to pull it up by the root (repent) and burn the root and any seed that has dropped along the way (go and sin no more). It is evil and not dealt with as the horrible sin it is, leads to every evil work and destruction. It leads to an eternity in hell. Help us, LORD! Please help me!

For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. – James 3:16

Ye Are Our Epistle Written in Our Hearts
Do we begin again to commend ourselves? or need we, as some others, epistles of commendation to you, or letters of commendation from you? Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men: forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart. – 2 Corinthians 3:1-3

Our Sufficiency is of God
And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward: not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God; who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life. – 2 Corinthians 3:4-6

Glorious
But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away: how shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious? For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory. For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth. For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious. – 2 Corinthians 3:7-11

Turn to the Lord and the Vail Shall Be Taken Away
Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech: and not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished: but their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ. But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart. Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away. – 2 Corinthians 3:12-16

Changed From Glory to Glory
Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. – 2 Corinthians 3:17-18

A Bountiful Eye
He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed; For he giveth of his bread to the poor. – Proverbs 22:9

His Presence Shall Go with Me

One – Year Bible passages for today
Exodus 32-33; Matthew 26:69-27:14; Psalm 33:1-11; Proverbs 8:33-36

If I have Found Grace in Thy Sight
And the Lord spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle. And Moses said unto the Lord, See, thou sayest unto me, Bring up this people: and thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt send with me. Yet thou hast said, I know thee by name, and thou hast also found grace in my sight. Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, shew me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people. And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest. – Exodus 33:11-14

Oh God, You know me by name, and You have extended grace to me over and over. Oh Lord, if I have found favor in Your sight today, will You extend Your grace once more and teach me Your ways? Will You tell me what You would have me to know so that I may know You, Lord? I want to know You, and I want to know Your ways and continue to find grace in Your sight. God, I am lonely in this place, and I need You to go with me. If not You, who will go with me? My family is leaving, my husband suddenly can’t hear (Heal him, Jesus!), I don’t have the large group of friends I once did, and some of my assignments that fed me so well seem to have dried up. It is hard, Lord, to have Your call dry up and not know the next step. Oh Lord, draw me close to You and help me through this day. Give me FIRE and help me to live a HOLY life and a life free of regret and offense. Oh Lord, can You go with me through this day. There is no one else.

And God says to me as He said to Moses – My Presence shall go with thee (Melissa), and I will give thee (Melissa) rest.

Thank You, Father. I love You, my Good, Good Father, and Your beautiful Son Jesus. I adore You, wise and comforting Holy Ghost. Thank You for teaching me Your ways this morning through prayer and Your Word and Your still small voice. Thank You for Your rest.

His Words are Truth
Now Peter sat without in the palace: and a damsel came unto him, saying, Thou also wast with Jesus of Galilee. But he denied before them all, saying, I know not what thou sayest. And when he was gone out into the porch, another maid saw him, and said unto them that were there, This fellow was also with Jesus of Nazareth. And again he denied with an oath, I do not know the man. And after a while came unto him they that stood by, and said to Peter, Surely thou also art one of them; for thy speech bewrayeth thee. Then began he to curse and to swear, saying, I know not the man. And immediately the cock crew. And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly. – Matthew 26:69-75

Bewrayeth – To reveal or expose; to betray

Well, regarding Peter, I’ve been there and done that. I have been the one weeping bitterly. Sometimes we forget what the Lord has spoken as a prophecy or warning. We think we will go down the right path, and then we find that we didn’t. What a hard truth – that we have the capacity within us to deny Him unless He guides every Word.

Today, I am so thankful for a merciful and forgiving Father. Yesterday a situation came, and with it, the temptation came to use my words for the cause of evil. To curse, to speak doubt, to dishonor. These are temptations, but that is where it all starts. In the temptation, I felt as though the Lord put His mighty hand over my mouth and kept me silent. Oh yes, the Lord’s hand is all that held me back. Without Him, I would mess up my life every day. This morning I am so thankful that I surrendered to His hand.

Thank You for Your mighty Hand, Father. Please continue to put it over my mouth, eyes, and heart that all my life and every word and action would be pleasing to You. In Jesus Name, I pray!!!

The Goodness of the Lord
For the word of the Lord is right; and all his works are done in truth. He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the Lord. – Psalms 33:4-5

God allowed Moses to see His glory, and the scripture describes His glory as His goodness.

Lord, will You show me Your glory today. Would You stop everything, even this morning, in this prayer room and pass by as I sit in the “cleft of this rock.” This rock of prayer, worship, and the Word. This little crevice on my own “Mountain of God.”

Hear Instruction and Be Wise
Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not. Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the Lord. But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his soul: all they that hate me love death. – Proverbs 8:33-36

Oh my God, You are altogether wise. Would you speak to me today? Father, would You help me to surrender to Your wisdom and knowledge of You and Your ways? Help me watch for Wisdom, for there I find You…and I find LIFE and favor. If I have found favor, Father, touch me today and change me today and send me forth today in Your world. Send me as a light in the darkness—a light in the gross darkness that covers the earth. Lord, if warring in the Spirit in this little prayer room and learning more of Your Word and ways… is my assignment, for now, help me be content. If there is more that You would have me to do, please open Your doors and windows wide. In Jesus Name, I yield and come before You with these requests. Amen. Amen.

Test of Order

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.” ~ John 10:1

Important Truth and test. This verse is speaking to me today of God’s order and gives a warning re: some of the things and people I allow into my life. It has brought great conviction as I can certainly see that I have allowed things that sounded good, and even sounded like they were of God, but in the end didn’t pass this test of “entering by the door.”

Oh Lord, forgive me. I thank you for Truth and Father I thank you for helping me to see…but I pray now for Your help in yielding to Your Word and that I would be one that acts in obedience immediately and not just one that sees clearly after the fact! In Jesus Name, Amen!!

A Hard Truth

Good morning! Hallelujah! Glory be to God!

The Holy Spirit has been speaking with me on a particular subject for a time. I may not get any “likes” on this one, but this is information that will set someone free. It is on areas of our lives that are huge stumbling blocks that you may not have considered. I know I hadn’t.

One of these blocks is dissension. Dissension is a disagreement or disapproval; a kind of rebellion. Dissension is a form of division that brings forth separation. One area of dissension God wants to deal with is misunderstandings and gossip. Sometimes calling friends or a co-laborer in Christ and constantly venting our heart about the same issue and/or the same person is a form of dissension. EVEN if what you see or experience or say is right there is a way to handle it. I fell into this so many times but the Lord has woken me up and the scales have been removed. Dissension occurs when we:

Gossip

Slander

Do not forgive

Falsely accuse

Misinterpret

Become offended

Become jealous

etc.

Dissension can happen in your home, your church, and your job. Dissension can happen when we insist that our opinion be heard and agreed upon. Dissension can open you up to curses if you aren’t careful. Sometimes we think it is the enemy, but in reality, it could be something you said about someone or what is in your heart that allowed the enemy to come in. There is always room for repentance and we all must in this critical hour learn to truly repent and then learn to take our thoughts captive so that what builds in our hearts and thus comes out of our mouths is pleasing to our Father.

And be careful because other people sowing dissension can also end up hindering YOU.

Galatians 5:19-21 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

The Holy Ghost had me look up every one of these words to get an understanding of what each meant and to cast light on the dark areas of my heart. Wow! Some really hit hard when I looked at the meaning…seditions – dissensions, was one of them. I even wonder how many times I fostered dissension by being a listening ear to such.

Look them up and check your own heart because it says in this passage of the Bible that if we do any of these we will not inherit the Kingdom of God. That is hard truth! But someone once told me truth hurts before that same truth changes you to look more like Jesus.

If you didn’t know, now you know.

Abiding: Thoughts, Prayers and the Word of God

The warfare has been so intense these last days so I have planted myself in the Word of God and put my focus on Jesus Christ. Over the last couple of days I have meditated on this word – ABIDE. I am sure this will go further because it just is the way I am, but decided to type this out. I have kind of used it like one of my prayer/scripture cards. Maybe all of this will help someone else too.

Abide: To wait for, await. To endure without yielding, withstand. To bear patiently, endure. To remain in one place.

Synonyms for “abide”: To stay, dwell, remain. To hand around, stick around. Tarry.

Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. John 15:4-5 (one of my favorite scriptures)

Prayers from God’s Word to help keep me in the place of abiding

-Lord, have mercy on me

Be merciful unto me, O Lord: for I cry unto thee daily. Psalm 86:3

-Lord, impart Your thoughts to me

But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. 1 Corinthians 2:10

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.. Isaiah 55:8

-Lord, help me to take every thought captive to You

Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; 2 Corinthians 10:5

-Lord, test and examine my ways

Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the Lord. Lamentations 3:40

I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings. Jeremiah 17:10

-Lord, make my desires Your desires

Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Psalm 37:4

-Lord, help me to be faithful in small things

He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much. Luke 16:10

-Lord, show me which way I should turn today

And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.Isaiah 30:21

-Lord, keep me in Your dwelling place

How amiable are thy tabernacles, O Lord of hosts! Psalm 84:1

-Lord, keep me on track today

Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you. Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing. Phillippians 3:12-16

-Lord, give me Your mind

For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? but we have the mind of Christ. 1 Corinthians 2:16

-Lord, help me to set my mind on things above

Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. Colossians 3:2

-Lord, help my speech to be gracious

Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.Colossians 4:6

-Lord, keep me in Your shelter and give me Your rest

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Psalm 91:1

-Lord, more of You and less of me

He must increase, but I must decrease. John 3:30

And when we have found our place of abiding with Christ, the fragrance of Christ is spread by us, for we are to God the aroma of Christ and we carry the fragrance of life to those around us.

Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place. For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish: To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things? For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ. 2 Corinthians 2:14-17
