Pondering (8-29-2021)

The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.

But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die. All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him: in his righteousness that he hath done he shall live.

Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?

But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die.

Yet ye say, The way of the Lord is not equal. Hear now, O house of Israel; Is not my way equal? are not your ways unequal? When a righteous man turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and dieth in them; for his iniquity that he hath done shall he die. Again, when the wicked man turneth away from his wickedness that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive.

Because he considereth, and turneth away from all his transgressions that he hath committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die. Yet saith the house of Israel, The way of the Lord is not equal. O house of Israel, are not my ways equal? are not your ways unequal?

Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith the Lord GOD. Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin. Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel? For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord GOD: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye.

Forgive Again and Again

Today’s passages from the One Year Bible – Exodus 5:22-7:25; Matthew 18:21-19:12; Psalm 23; Proverbs 5:22-23

Lord, why have You not moved – yet?
And Moses returned unto the Lord, and said, Lord, wherefore hast thou so evil entreated this people? why is it that thou hast sent me? For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in thy Name, he hath done evil to this people; neither hast thou delivered thy people at all?  – Exodus 5:22-23

When I first read this, I thought Moses sounded disrespectful. But Moses saw his people suffering and had received promises from God about a great deliverance for them. Ultimately, he is asking. Lord, why have You not moved on behalf of Your people yet?

Haven’t many of us asked that very same question lately??? I know I have.

Forgive again and again and again!
Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven. – Matthew 18:21-22

Jesus instructed us to forgive – over and over again, just as He has forgiven us. If you read the rest of the scripture in Matthew 18:23-35, you will see this truth – If God forgives you and you refuse to forgive others, Jesus says that you are wicked!!!

Forgive – to grant pardon; absolve; to give up all claim on; to grant pardon to; to cease to feel resentment against; to cancel an indebtedness or liability.

God will display His fruit (in your life) to your enemies.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. – Psalms 23:5

Your enemies may think they have you under their thumb and that you are defeated… but God will raise you with a great display and celebration right in front of your enemies.

Sin leads to death!!!!
His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins. He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray. – Proverbs 5:22-23

Sin may feel good for a season, but one day you will see that you are trapped in the “cords of sin.” You will die in that trap if you do not go to Jesus and ask Him to be Your Lord and Savior. Jesus is the only One who can free you from the grip of the enemy and death.

My God, I come before You this day, and I glorify You. I thank You for Your blessings and Your peace during such a season as we find ourselves today. Father, I thank You for Your Word today that has been a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. I pray that I never forsake it and that I continue down Your path. I want to be right in the middle of Your perfect will. Holy Ghost lead me and guide me; teach me and fill me to overflowing with Yourself that I may be a light to this world shining for Your glory. Please show me and convict me of any wickedness in my heart that I may deal with it now. Lord, I pray for my enemies. I pray for those who despise me, and I pray that You reveal Yourself that they may feel the freedom and peace and joy in You that I feel. Thank You for my deliverance and salvation. Please help me as I question why some promises are delayed. Help me to have a heart that forgives entirely and quickly. Thank You for forgiving me! Lord be with me and all that read this post. You’ve ordered our steps today. Please help me to walk those steps faithfully. I ask this in Jesus’ precious and holy Name. Amen. Amen.

Thy Word Have I Hid in My Heart – The Love of Money and A Dishonest Heart (Luke 18:18-30)

open-chest-money-12685500559667066.jpg

And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God. Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother. And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up. Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me. And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich. And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God! For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. And they that heard it said, Who then can be saved? And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God. Then Peter said, Lo, we have left all, and followed thee. And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God’s sake, Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting.” ~ Luke‬ ‭18:18-30‬‬‬‬

The rich young ruler was one of a few men in the Gospels who came to the feet of Jesus and went away in worse condition than when they came. This happened because of bad choices and being a person that said one thing but did another. In a word, he was dishonest and he showed that in three ways.

His words – In Jesus day, rabbis were called “Master” or “Teacher” but it was unusual for a rabbi to be called “good.” The Jews used the word “good” only in reference to God. This explains why Jesus asked the young man what he meant. Had he really believed that Jesus was “good,” then he was confessing that Jesus was indeed God.

His behavior though proved that he did not believe Jesus Christ was God. If he thought he was in the presence of almighty God, would he argue the law, speak of his own character, but then refuse to obey the Word given? After all, he knew that God sees the heart and knows all things!

His sin – There is no doubt the young man tried to keep the law. This may have been what brought him to the feet of Jesus to start with. Jesus did not quote laws to him as a means of salvation, because obedience to the law does not save us. He held the law before the young man as a mirror to reveal his sins just as He does to each of us.

But the young man looked into the mirror and would not see his own sin. Jesus knew the young man’s heart, so instead of preaching to him about covetousness, He asked him to do something that a covetous person would not do. Nobody is saved by giving all his wealth to the poor, but nobody can be saved who will not repent of his sins and turn away from them. This young man was possessed by the love of money, and he would not let go.

His refusal – This young ruler thought that eternal life came to those who “did something” but when Jesus gave him something to do, he was sorrowful. In other words he refused! He wanted salvation on his terms, not God’s. It says in one gospel account that he then turned and walked away in great sorrow. (Truly, to me that is one of the saddest stories in the Bible).

The disciples were shocked when Jesus announced that it was so difficult for rich people to be saved. Why? They were Jews and the Jews believed that riches were a mark of God’s blessing as well as His favor and approval.. “If rich people can’t be saved,” they asked, “what hope is there for the rest of us?”

It is not possessing riches that keeps people out of heaven. Abraham, David, and Solomon and others were wealthy men. It is being possessed by money and things and trusting and idolizing them that makes salvation difficult for the wealthy. Wealth gives people a false sense of success, security and superiority. When people are satisfied with themselves and what they have, they very often feel no need for God.

The rich young ruler is a warning to people who want a faith that does not change their values or upset their lifestyle. Jesus does not command every follower to sell everything and give it all to the poor, but He does convict in any area in our lives that we don’t put Him first.

Heavenly Father, today I come before You to tell You I love You! Thank You so much for sending Your most precious Son to die for my sin. Thank You Jesus for dying for me. Let me never forget the cost that I might have a life eternal. Lord You are good and great and greatly to be praised. Help me today to keep my eyes on you and not on things or money or pursuit of money. Help me to trust You for provision. Thank You Lord that my steps are ordered today. Help me to take every opportunity to give as You command and help me to obey and follow every step of the way that I may get in and stay in Your perfect will. Help me to be content with what I have. In Jesus Name I Pray! Amen!

But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. ~ 1 Timothy 6:9

And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth. ~ Luke 12:15

For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. ~ Matthew 6:21

For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. ~ 1 Timothy 6:10

No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. ~ Matthew 6:24

A Hard Truth

Good morning! Hallelujah! Glory be to God!

The Holy Spirit has been speaking with me on a particular subject for a time. I may not get any “likes” on this one, but this is information that will set someone free. It is on areas of our lives that are huge stumbling blocks that you may not have considered. I know I hadn’t.

One of these blocks is dissension. Dissension is a disagreement or disapproval; a kind of rebellion. Dissension is a form of division that brings forth separation. One area of dissension God wants to deal with is misunderstandings and gossip. Sometimes calling friends or a co-laborer in Christ and constantly venting our heart about the same issue and/or the same person is a form of dissension. EVEN if what you see or experience or say is right there is a way to handle it. I fell into this so many times but the Lord has woken me up and the scales have been removed. Dissension occurs when we:

Gossip

Slander

Do not forgive

Falsely accuse

Misinterpret

Become offended

Become jealous

etc.

Dissension can happen in your home, your church, and your job. Dissension can happen when we insist that our opinion be heard and agreed upon. Dissension can open you up to curses if you aren’t careful. Sometimes we think it is the enemy, but in reality, it could be something you said about someone or what is in your heart that allowed the enemy to come in. There is always room for repentance and we all must in this critical hour learn to truly repent and then learn to take our thoughts captive so that what builds in our hearts and thus comes out of our mouths is pleasing to our Father.

And be careful because other people sowing dissension can also end up hindering YOU.

Galatians 5:19-21 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

The Holy Ghost had me look up every one of these words to get an understanding of what each meant and to cast light on the dark areas of my heart. Wow! Some really hit hard when I looked at the meaning…seditions – dissensions, was one of them. I even wonder how many times I fostered dissension by being a listening ear to such.

Look them up and check your own heart because it says in this passage of the Bible that if we do any of these we will not inherit the Kingdom of God. That is hard truth! But someone once told me truth hurts before that same truth changes you to look more like Jesus.

If you didn’t know, now you know.
