Riches and Honour and Life

Job 20:1–22:30; 2 Corinthians 1:1-11; Psalm 40:11-17; Proverbs 22:2-4

Lay Up His Words in Thine Heart
Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace: Thereby good shall come unto thee. Receive, I pray thee, the law from his mouth, And lay up his words in thine heart. If thou return to the Almighty, thou shalt be built up, Thou shalt put away iniquity far from thy tabernacles. Then shalt thou lay up gold as dust, And the gold of Ophir as the stones of the brooks. Yea, the Almighty shall be thy defence, And thou shalt have plenty of silver. For then shalt thou have thy delight in the Almighty, And shalt lift up thy face unto God. Thou shalt make thy prayer unto him, and he shall hear thee, And thou shalt pay thy vows. Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: And the light shall shine upon thy ways. When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, there is lifting up; And he shall save the humble person. He shall deliver the island of the innocent: And it is delivered by the pureness of thine hands. – Job 22:21-30

We Had the Sentence of Death in Ourselves That We Should Not Trust in Ourselves
For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life: but we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead: who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us; ye also helping together by prayer for us, that for the gift bestowed upon us by the means of many persons thanks may be given by many on our behalf. – 2 Corinthians 1:8-11

I am Poor and Needy; Yet the Lord Thinketh Upon Me
Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: Let such as love thy salvation say continually, the LORD be magnified. But I am poor and needy; Yet the Lord thinketh upon me: Thou art my help and my deliverer; Make no tarrying, O my God. – Psalm 40:16-17

Rich and Poor – the LORD Made Them All
The rich and poor meet together: The LORD is the maker of them all. – Proverbs 22:2

A Prudent Man Foreseeth the Evil
A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: But the simple pass on, and are punished. – Proverbs 22:3

Riches and Honour and Life
By humility and the fear of the LORD Are riches, and honour, and life. – Proverbs 22:4
