How Shall We Escape, If We Neglect So Great Salvation
Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward; how shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him; God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?

Thou Hast Put All Things in Subjection Under His Feet
For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak. But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? Or the son of man, that thou visitest him? Forget Not All His Benefits

The LORD is merciful and gracious, Slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. He will not always chide: Neither will he keep his anger for ever. He hath not dealt with us after our sins; Nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.

For as the heaven is high above the earth, So great is his mercy toward them that fear him. As far as the east is from the west, So far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

Like as a father pitieth his children, So the LORD pitieth them that fear him. For he knoweth our frame; He remembereth that we are dust. As for man, his days are as grass: As a flower of the field, so he flourisheth. For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; And the place thereof shall know it no more.

But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, And his righteousness unto children’s children; To such as keep his covenant, And to those that remember his commandments to do them. The LORD hath prepared his throne in the heavens; And his kingdom ruleth over all. Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, That do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word. Bless ye the LORD, all ye his hosts; Ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure. Speak Thou the Things Which Become Sound Doctrine
But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:

Aged Men
that the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.

Aged Women and Young Women
The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; that they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

Young Men
Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded. In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity, sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.

Servants
Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again; not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.

Looking for that Blessed Hope
For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

Jeremiah 49:23-39 prophesies against Damascus, Kedar, and Hazor and Elam. The passage predicts destruction and judgment upon these nations for their violence and arrogance. The Lord promises to bring terror upon them from all sides, scattering them and causing their downfall, but then also promises restoration for the people of Elam in the latter days.

Damascus
Damascus is waxed feeble, and turneth herself to flee, and fear hath seized on her: anguish and sorrows have taken her, as a woman in travail. How is the city of praise not left, the city of my joy! Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets, and all the men of war shall be cut off in that day, saith the LORD of hosts.

Kedar and Hazor
Arise, get you up unto the wealthy nation, that dwelleth without care, saith the LORD, which have neither gates nor bars, which dwell alone. And their camels shall be a booty, and the multitude of their cattle a spoil: and I will scatter into all winds them that are in the utmost corners; and I will bring their calamity from all sides thereof, saith the LORD. And Hazor shall be a dwelling for dragons, and a desolation for ever: there shall no man abide there, nor any son of man dwell in it.

Elam
And upon Elam will I bring the four winds from the four quarters of heaven, and will scatter them toward all those winds; and there shall be no nation whither the outcasts of Elam shall not come. For I will cause Elam to be dismayed before their enemies, and before them that seek their life: and I will bring evil upon them, even my fierce anger, saith the LORD; and I will send the sword after them, till I have consumed them: and I will set my throne in Elam, and will destroy from thence the king and the princes, saith the LORD.

Restoration
But it shall come to pass in the latter days, that I will bring again the captivity of Elam, saith the LORD.

Jeremiah 50 describes the judgment of Babylon for their violence against God’s people, how God will destroy the Babylonians, and how He will bring Israel back to their land. It discusses how the Israelites should not fear their oppressors because God will bring justice and restoration.

Come, and Let Us Join Ourselves to the LORD
In those days, and in that time, saith the LORD, the children of Israel shall come, they and the children of Judah together, going and weeping: they shall go, and seek the LORD their God. They shall ask the way to Zion with their faces thitherward, saying, Come, and let us join ourselves to the LORD in a perpetual covenant that shall not be forgotten.
Jeremiah 50:4-5

Their Redeemer is Strong
Thus saith the LORD of hosts; The children of Israel and the children of Judah were oppressed together: and all that took them captives held them fast; they refused to let them go. Their Redeemer is strong; The LORD of hosts is his name: he shall throughly plead their cause, that he may give rest to the land, and disquiet the inhabitants of Babylon.

The book of Titus is a short letter written by Paul to Titus, a fellow Christian leader in Crete. The central theme of the letter is the importance of sound doctrine and good works in the Christian life. Paul instructs Titus to appoint qualified leaders in each church and teach all believers sound doctrine. He also emphasizes the need for Christians to live a godly life, showing kindness and respect to others, and avoiding foolish arguments and divisive behavior.

In Hope of Eternal Life
Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God’s elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness; in hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began; but hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour; to Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.

Holding Fast the Faithful Word
For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee: if any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly. For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre; but a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate; holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers. – Titus 1:5-9

There are Many Unruly and Vain Talkers and Deceivers
For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision: whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre’s sake. Jeremiah 48 contains a prophecy about the judgment of Moab, a neighboring country of ancient Israel. The chapter describes how Moab will be destroyed and punished because of their pride and arrogance toward God. It speaks of the mourning that will come upon the people. This chapter warns all nations to humble themselves before God and not trust their strength and power.

We Have Heard the Pride of Moab
O ye that dwell in Moab, leave the cities, and dwell in the rock, and be like the dove that maketh her nest in the sides of the hole’s mouth. We have heard the pride of Moab, (he is exceeding proud) his loftiness, and his arrogancy, and his pride, and the haughtiness of his heart. I know his wrath, saith the LORD; but it shall not be so; his lies shall not so effect it.

Jeremiah 49:1-22 first speaks of the judgment God has for the Ammonites – their downfall and punishment for their sins.
It then turns to the judgment of Edom, how they will be destroyed, and their people will flee. It says their allies will turn against the Edomites, and the Lord will destroy them as well. The chapter, as a whole, emphasizes the importance of repentance and turning from evil, and this passage ends with a message of hope, saying in the future, the Lord will restore of the people of Edom.

Wherefore gloriest thou in the valleys, thy flowing valley, O backsliding daughter? that trusted in her treasures, saying, Who shall come unto me? Behold, I will bring a fear upon thee, saith the Lord GOD of hosts, from all those that be about thee; and ye shall be driven out every man right forth; and none shall gather up him that wandereth. Jeremiah 44 describes how the Jews who had fled to Egypt continued to worship other gods despite warning by Jeremiah that this would lead to their destruction. The chapter ends with a promise from God that a remnant of Judah will eventually return to their homeland.

The Remnant of Judah
Yet a small number that escape the sword shall return out of the land of Egypt into the land of Judah, and all the remnant of Judah, that are gone into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, shall know whose words shall stand, mine, or their’s.

Jeremiah 45 records a message that the prophet Jeremiah received from God for his scribe Baruch, who was feeling discouraged and overwhelmed by the difficult times they were living in. God reassures Baruch that He will protect him and give him his life as a prize of war, even though he must give up everything else. God also reminds Baruch that though judgment is coming upon the people of Judah, He will preserve a remnant.

Seekest Thou Great Things for Thyself?
And seekest thou great things for thyself? seek them not: for, behold, I will bring evil upon all flesh, saith the LORD: but thy life will I give unto thee for a prey in all places whither thou goest.

Jeremiah 46 speaks of the destruction of the idols of Egypt and prophesies their judgment by Babylon. The chapter describes how God will bring Babylon against Egypt and how Egypt’s allies cannot save them, but it also speaks of Egypt’s restoration as a nation.

Why are Thy Valiant Men Swept Away?
Why are thy valiant men swept away? they stood not, because the LORD did drive them. He made many to fall, yea, one fell upon another: and they said, Arise, and let us go again to our own people, and to the land of our nativity, from the oppressing sword.
